HGRM Volunteer Opportunities from A to Z

These are just a few of the many different ways you can help out. There is something for everyone. Learn how to volunteer or contact us to see where your skills and interests will fit.

Administrative Support Assist with data entry, correspondence, filing, and other administrative tasks. 
Assist Clients  Work with an individual client or family to help them select the large and small items they need.  
Agency Relationships  Maintain contact and relationships with the various agencies and churches that refer clients to HGRM. Identify ways in which we can help each other out. 
Fund raising and Public Relations  Work with a small committee to conduct an annual mail appeal, write applications for grants and funding, or help to publicize HGRM through press releases, community events etc. 
Information Systems Support  Assist in developing and maintaining HGRM's databases, website, management systems, and computers 
Phones & Appointments  Monitor our voicemail and handle requests and questions as needed. Provide information, set up client appointments, and schedule furniture pickups from donors. 
Pickup/Moving Furniture  In teams of 2 or 3, pickup larger items from donors on a scheduled basis, or help in moving, arranging, and loading larger items in our warehouse 
Receiving Donated Goods  Work at our warehouse assisting donors by accepting their donated items and providing receipts. 
Resale Management  Assist in identifying items that can be resold to provide operating funds for HGRM. Preparing them for resale. Love antiques? Learn more while you work. 
Repair and Maintenance  Test appliances, make minor repairs to furniture an lamps, or assist in maintaining the warehouse in good operating condition (minor repairs) 
Sorting goods  Put donated items in their correct locations for distributing to clients; evaluate goods to be set aside for resale or other charities. 
Volunteer Management  Monitor the inventory of a particular type of item (examples: beds, upholstered furniture, small appliances, linens). Make sure it is well organized. Work with the sorters and movers.
Zone Management  Assist in the overall responsibility for a particular zone in the warehouse, such as baby items, linens, etc., to insure that the inventory we have is appropriate and well organized.
